Captain RedFlag
Chief Warning Sign Officer // Camp Coulda-Woulda-Shoulda
I'm Captain RedFlag, Chief Warning Sign Officer and former Camp Cartographer. I got that job many years ago because someone asked, "Don't pirates use maps?" and nobody followed up with a second question. I have since resigned from active cartography, although several of my maps remain in circulation for reasons that are frankly beyond my control.
These days I maintain Camp's trail markers and warning flags. I'm particularly fond of the flags. They bring a bold pop of color to an otherwise very brown wilderness, especially along cliffs, unstable bridges, washed-out trails, and other areas where the scenery could use a little something. People can get terribly dramatic about what they supposedly "mean."
You'll usually find me near the Trailhead Station with my boots polished, my compass somewhere nearby, and a firm commitment to whichever direction I've already chosen. I've never been much for turning around just because conditions become unfavorable. A captain has a reputation to maintain. Besides, if we were truly lost, surely one of these signs would say so.
